Our Workshops
Jazz without the scary bits
Think jazz is all complicated chords and intimidating theory? Not here. This interactive workshop breaks jazz down into simple, playable ideas that work for everyone — from beginners to seasoned players. You’ll learn a few key concepts, then jump straight into playing easy jazz standards as a group, making decisions together on style, tempo and feel. No pressure, no judgement — just a fun way to dip your toes into jazz and actually play it.
Make your ukulele sing
Ever wondered how players keep a melody clear while still playing full chords? This workshop breaks chord melody down into simple, practical steps you can actually use. You’ll learn how to choose where your melody sits on the fretboard and how to shape your chords around it so it always stands out.
Designed for intermediate players, this session keeps things accessible and hands-on. If you know your string names, can read basic chord diagrams, and can manage a Bb and a barred D7, you’ll be able to follow along. Reading tab can be helpful, but the key ideas are explained clearly as you go.
Read music in 15 minutes (yes, really!)
Always wanted to read music but not keen on hours of theory? This workshop covers the absolute basics in a way that actually makes sense — and quickly. You’ll learn how to recognise notes and, more importantly, how long to play them for, making your tab playing instantly more musical. It’s also a great stepping stone to figuring out music written for other instruments and bringing it onto the ukulele. Simple, practical, and surprisingly achievable.
Unlock your fretboard without memorising it
Stop guessing and start finding your notes with confidence. This workshop uses simple pattern recognition tricks to unlock the entire fretboard — no rote memorisation required. Whether you’re exploring higher up the neck for solos or just looking for easier alternatives to tricky barre chords, you’ll come away with practical tools you can use straight away. It’s all about working smarter, not harder.
Don’t be boring on stage
A performance workshop… by showing you exactly what not to do. This fun session walks through the most common on-stage mistakes — from awkward starts to gear mishaps — and how to avoid them. You’ll pick up practical tips on what to bring, what to prepare, how to set up, and how to actually engage an audience. Expect plenty of laughs, a few “too real” moments, and a whole lot of confidence for your next performance.
