Join us at the Boroondara Ukulele Festival!

We’ll be heading to the Boroondara Ukulele Festival on Saturday 4 July, from 9:30am–6:00pm at the Ashburton Community Centre for a full day of music, learning and ukulele fun!

We’re excited to be presenting our popular workshop, Jazz without the scary bits. If you’ve ever thought jazz was all complicated chords and intimidating theory, this workshop is for you. We’ll break jazz down into simple, playable ideas and then put them straight into practice with some easy jazz standards. It’s interactive, relaxed, and suitable for everyone from beginners to more experienced players.

The festival will also feature workshops from the wonderful Sally Carter, Kim Burns and Margaret Crichton, making it a fantastic opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s most respected ukulele educators.

We’ll also be performing in the tutor’s concert, with Chantelle joined by Rick on bass and Brad on alto sax and clarinet for a set of jazz-inspired originals and favourites.

And of course, we’ll have our popular t-shirt stall set up all day! Browse through our design book, choose your favourite design, and we’ll press it on the spot for just $25. Shirts are available in a range of colours and sizes from Small to 5XL.

If you’re local, we’d love to see you in person. Can’t make it to Ashburton? The afternoon workshops will also be available via Zoom, making it easy to join in from further afield. Tickets are available at this link: https://cmvic.org.au/pages/boroondara-uke-festival

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic day of music, learning and community. We hope to see you there! 🐾

One week to go until the Hills Ukulele Festival!

It’s shaping up to be a huge weekend and we can’t wait to be part of it again this year.

On Saturday, Chantelle will be running a workshop on chord melody — breaking down ways to combine chords and melody to create beautiful arrangements — followed by a few quick songs in the lunchtime concert.

Then on Sunday at 5:05pm on the main stage, the Cat Cartel crew joins in, with Rick on bass and Brad on alto sax & clarinet for a full set of original music.

We’ll also be in the marketplace all weekend pressing custom t-shirts on the spot, alongside the official festival shirt.

Come say hi, grab a shirt, learn something new, and enjoy a weekend full of amazing music! 🐾

In case you missed it…

We’ve shared our live recording of Misty from the Port Fairy Jazz Festival last year — one of those timeless tunes we love settling into and letting unfold.

It features Alistair on trumpet, Rick on bass, Cam on drums, and Chantelle on vocals and ukulele — a beautiful moment from a very special weekend.

Have a listen and let us know what you think 🐾

Throwing it back to Hills Ukulele Festival!

Here’s our live recording of Day by Day from last year’s festival — such a fun set and a tune we always love playing.

We’re excited to be heading back again on 17th May, performing with Rick on bass and Brad on alto sax and clarinet.

We’ll also be there pressing t-shirts (with plenty of designs to choose from) and I’ll be running a workshop on the Saturday too!

It’s going to be a huge weekend!

Have a watch, and we hope to see you in the hills! 🐾
